Podcast Interview: DiamondDwellings.Com

The folks in attendance at this years SF Inman Connect event seemed a little more engaged than usual. They also seemed a bit more genuine with regard to their desire to wrap their minds around the new rules and new tools of real estate. I had the opportunity to meet with a few people developing some fairly unique concepts. Among them is an affable guy named Matt Fagioli. We've connected briefly in the RE.net prior to the events. He showed up to REBarcamp and Inman with an energy and passion that was very contagious.

Matt is in the process of launching a new brokerage model called Diamond Dwellings. His concept is to provide area market leaders with a best-of-breed platform that takes full advantage of Web 2.0 while still implementing the best of what he affectionately refers to as "old school" marketing.

I had the opportunity to follow up with Matt and one of his agents, Lane Bailey today via audio podcast. Lane did a great job of extending his social networking chops into the events that took place in SF last week. Take a few minutes to listen to the interview and if you have questions contact Matt, he strikes me as a real straight shooter who will give it everything he has to ensure the success of the professionals that get on board with his program.

I promised Matt we would do a follow up interview next month to see where they stand with their program. Stay tuned!

Houston, We Have Lift Off! - REBarcamp - Texas Style!

A few weeks ago I started speaking with Lani & Benn of Agent Genius, Matt Kelly and few others about an REBarcamp for Texas. The idea to hold it in conjunction with the yearly HAR.Com trade show seemed like a good idea. It's now a cemented date of October 22nd and the wheels are in motion with the aforementioned folks along with Carson Coots, Ken Brand, Stephanie Edwards Mussa and Laurie Price as the beginning of a team charged with the task of keeping the REBarcamp momentum alive and well.

I have spoken to someone about a great facility in the Midtown area of Houston that is all but locked. As soon as I get the official green light we can announce it. Please add the date to your calendars and watch the REBarcamp.Com web site, we will be re-tooling it for the Texas event (and other REBarcamps) soon along with a new Wiki and more. If you want to volunteer, sponsor or have any questions, please email me at mprice AT mlbroadcast dot com or DM me on twitter @mlbroadcast. More information to come soon!

UPDATE: After having a few conversations we have decided to use #REBCH as the hash tag for this event. We have acquired separate domains for the events that will likely take place in other areas of the state as well. Since I went out of pocket at $7 bucks a pop, they will be released to the organizers of those events in exchange for a margarita or mojito and an acknowledgment to H-Town - Represent!

REBarcamp A HUGE Success

Good morning! I'm blogging to you from a $12.95 per day hotel Internet connection in the most wired City in the World, but I digress.. REBarcamp was everything I hoped it would be and more. The sessions were great, the turnout was better. I think we had at least 120 people, maybe more. Brad Coy, Andy Kaufman, Todd Carpenter and all of the other volunteers and organizers worked hard to make it happen. There are some great stories to tell, but I need to grab a cab to Inman Connect, more to report later. Daniel Rothamel of The Real Estate Zebra along with Grant and Gia of RealSeekr came up with a very creative surprise. Blogger Trading Cards, with super heros. I am now forever to be known as PodcastMan. My Power? Sending videos to every corner of the web. Oh yeah!

What Do You Love and/or Hate About Your Smart Phone?

I'll be participating in a podcast regarding the iPhone and smart phones in general today. One of our talking points will be centered around the results from this survey. If you get a chance to take it before 2 pm central today, we will have a better sampling of data. It only takes a brief minute or two to complete.
